Men\'s Trophy Fund Members Tournament Rules Changes For 1998

"The Men\'s Trophy Fund of the Men\'s Golf Committee of Bamm Hollow Country Club reserves the right to alter any of the conditions and Schedules herein. The Committee reserves the right to reject the entry of any, applicant, at any time, for any reason. Any decision by the Committee in any matter shall be final."

To maintain equity among Trophy Fund Members, the Golf Committee has voted to adopt the Knuth Tournament Point System. All 1998 Tournaments (except the Club Championships) will be played under this system.

The Knuth Tournament Point System was developed by Dean Knuth, the Senior Director of Handicapping for the USGA. It is based on awarding points to NET finishers in the club\'s tournaments. First Place finishes will be awarded 5 (five) points to the individual or to all the team members finishing in first place. 4 (four) points to 2nd Place finishers, 3 (three) points for 3rd place finishers, 2 (two) points for 4th Place and 1 (one) point for 5th Place. Points are calculated over a 2 year period and are recalculated before each Tournament. This means that deductions may change during the Tournament Year.

The Knuth System states "If a player accumulates 7 points over a two year period his/her handicap for a tournament held at your club may be reduced by 2 strokes, Each two additional points earned by the player in this two year period would result in an additional stroke being subtracted from their handicap for the tournaments." Note that the USGA Handicap Index is not reduced, only the handicap assigned to the player for that event.

The Bamm Hollow Men\'s Golf Committee has modified the threshold and advance levels at which handicap stroke deductions will be applied. For 1998 the Committee will use 1996 and 1997 results from the Bamm Hollow Tournament Schedule and will set a 10 point starting threshold for the first 2 stroke deduction and 3 additional points need be accumulated to reach the second and advanced levels where additional strokes are deducted.

The Committee has also voted that handicap deductions shall be ½ of the normal reduction for 1998 only. Full deductions will be in effect starting January 1999. The Men\'s Handicap Committee will randomly check Trophy Fund Members USGA Handicaps so that no attempts to manipulating a players USGA handicap are made to make up for these adjustments.

Copies of the Knuth Tournament System Printout are available through any Men\'s Golf Committee Member or directly off the USGA\'s Internet Home Page at http://www.usga.org
